Notary Public, Trademarks and Tradenames

The 2011 budget bill, Wisconsin Act 32, transferred responsibility for issuing notary public commissions and the registration of trademarks, trade names and brands from the Office of the Secretary of State to the Department of Financial Institutions. Any pending matters related to these functions have been transferred to DFI. All new applications for Notary Commission or the registration or assignment of trademarks, trade names and brands should be submitted to DFI effective July 1, 2011.
