Loan Originator: Apply for a License

Pursuant to s. DFI-Bkg 47.02, Wis. Admin. Code, the division shall not accept any new loan originator license applications after December 11, 2009. If you are interested in obtaining a Wisconsin loan originator license, you will be able to apply for your license on the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System beginning January 2, 2010.

This is an overview of the steps necessary to apply for a Loan Originator license.

  1. Study

    3. Review the Study Guide
  2. Locate a Test Center. [external link]
  3. Request a Criminal Background Check (CIB) from the state in which you live by selecting one of the following:
  4. Take and pass the exam. If you pass the exam, you may apply online at the test center or you may apply online later.
  5. Submit your application online at www.pulseportal.com. Select Wisconsin and then click Submit a License Application.
You will not receive a paper license, but you may check the status of your license online.
