Recent and upcoming changes include:

  1. On October 5, 1998, an application was filed to organize a new state savings bank to be known as Sunset Bank & Savings in Waukesha, Wisconsin. On December 18, the incorporators were sent a "Certificate of Authority to Effect a Temporary Organization" of the savings bank within 180 days.
  2. Effective at the opening of business on July 30, 1998, M&I Bank, S.S.B., a savings and loan association in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, converted to a state chartered bank, known as M&I Lakeview Bank.
  3. On June 30, 1998, St. Francis Capital Corp., Milwaukee, Wisconsin announced that it will acquiring Reliance Capital Corp., the holding company for Reliance Savings Bank, possibly effective by the end of 1998. The transaction is scheduled to be closed in January 1999.
  4. Effective March 28, 1998, AMCORE Financial, Inc., an Illinois bank holding company, acquired Midwest Federal Financial Corp, the holding company of Baraboo Federal Bank, FSB and changed the name of the federal savings bank to AMCORE Bank, Central Wisconsin.
  5. On January 21, 1998, Marquette Savings Bank, S.A. converted from mutual form to stock form and reorganized into a mutual holding company format.
