Second Annual Money Conference to be held in the Beloit/Janesville Area

(Madison) The second annual Money Conference: You and Your Money returns to Blackhawk Technical College on Saturday, March 8, 2003. One of its many benefits will be a coupon for a free credit-counseling session for the first 50 adults to arrive. The program offers unbiased financial information in a fun environment for the whole family. Other benefits include wealth-building tips, door prizes, games, continental breakfast, lunch and free parking.

Adult sessions deal with credit, financial planning, comparisons of banks, credit unions and other financial service providers, investing, building net worth and other related topics. Age-specific sessions for youth include Entrepreneurship for Kids, How to Buy a Cell Phone and Other Economic Concepts and Now is the Time to Get Down to Business, a session taught by youths who have actually started their own business.

Some sessions will be offered in Spanish and a sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired will be made available if requested by February 25, 2003.

Free babysitting is available for children under six, but there is a mandatory pre-registration with Sandy Hough at 608-757-7603. Free bus transportation also is available with pick-ups at the Janesville Downtown Transfer Center (123 South River St.) at 7:30 a.m. and the Merrill Community Center (Beloit) at 8:00 a.m. Return bus service begins immediately following the conference.

Registration and the continental breakfast start at 7:45 a.m. and programming begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration fees are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (18 and under).
