Governor Doyle Appoints Suzanne Cowan as Director of
Office of Credit Unions
(Madison)Governor Jim Doyle announced today the appointment of Suzanne
Cowan of Oregon as the Director of the Office of Credit Unions. Cowan
will head a staff of 19 who oversee the regulation and examination of
Wisconsin Credit Unions. She will also work closely with the Secretary
of the Department of Financial Institutions in ensuring the strength and
security of financial institutions in Wisconsin.
Cowan has served as the President of the Wisconsin Education Association
Credit Union in Madison since 1979. She is a former President of the St.
Francis Hospital Employees Credit Union in La Crosse. She currently serves
as director of the Wisconsin Corporate Central Credit Union, and formerly
served as chairman of its board. She received a Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and is currently pursuing a
Masters in Business Administration at Edgewood College.
Suzannes 24 years as President of the Wisconsin Education
Association Credit Union makes her a terrific selection for this position,
Governor Doyle said. She has the expertise to guide the Office of
Credit Unions in the right direction.
