Wisconsin DFI Bank Program is Re-Accredited

(Madison) The Accreditation Program of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors has re-accredited the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions bank regulatory program.

CSBS is the professional association of state officials responsible for chartering, regulating, and supervising the nation's 7,000 state-chartered banks and 433 state-regulated branches and agencies of foreign banks. The CSBS Accreditation Program identifies banking departments that serve citizens of their state by operating a capable and professional regulatory program.

The Wisconsin DFI regulates 232 state-chartered banks, 287 credit unions, and 1,403 mortgage banker/brokers. CSBS accreditation aims to strengthen state banking departments and to demonstrate the high quality of these departments to the general public, the federal banking agencies, Congress, and other state banking departments.

According to DFI Secretary Lorrie Keating Heinemann, "This periodic examination process and subsequent certification recognizes that Wisconsin's bank examiners are providing the highest quality service. We are pleased to participate in the program and to accept this certificate."
