Dane County to Hold 2009 Money Smart Week Wisconsin^SM Kick-Off

(Madison) The Dane County Money Smart Week Wisconsin planning team will hold a kickoff for the 2009 Money Smart Week Wisconsin campaign at the Power of Change Family Festival on Saturday, October 10, at the Sheraton Hotel, 706 John Nolen Dr. from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Included are

• Financial workshops and activities for adults and children
• Balloons, face painting, magic tricks, music and a festival-like atmosphere
• Photo opportunities with Bucky Badger, Ben Franklin and other characters
• Keynote speaker Meridee Maynard, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, with presentation called “When I Grow Up … I Want to Be a Millionaire.”

Money Smart Week Wisconsin, created by Governor Doyle’s Council on Financial Literacy, was the first statewide financial literacy social awareness campaign in the country when it began in 2006. Its goal is to improve the financial literacy of Wisconsin citizens. It is modeled after similar campaigns run by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in the cities of Chicago and Detroit. The Dane County planning group is one of 21 in the state this year.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2009 will run October 10-17, 2009.
