Fond du Lac Public Library to Unveil The Money Smart Neighborhood Collection as Part of 2009 Money Smart Week WisconsinSM

(Madison) During a special “Library After Hours” event, the Fond du Lac Public Library will unveil its newest collection—The Money Smart Neighborhood as the prequel to Fond du Lac County’s 2009 Money Smart Week Wisconsin kickoff. The event will be Friday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the library. The collection was made possible by a $52,000 grant from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Investor Education Foundation (FINRA) and the American Library Association.

The Fond du Lac County Money Smart Week Wisconsin planning team will hold an official kickoff for the 2009 Money Smart Week Wisconsin campaign called Family Moolah Fun Day on Saturday, October 10 also at the Public Library, from noon to 3:00 p.m. The planning team also will offer more than 100 other financial literacy events and activities. A complete listing is available at: http://moneysmartwi.org/FonddulacCounty/

Money Smart Week Wisconsin, created by Governor Doyle’s Council on Financial Literacy, was the first statewide financial literacy social awareness campaign in the country when it began in 2006. Its goal is to improve the financial literacy of Wisconsin citizens. It is modeled after similar campaigns run by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in the cities of Chicago and Detroit. The Fond du Lac County planning group is one of 21 in the state this year.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2009 will run October 10-17, 2009.
