Secretary Heinemann to Attend Winnebago County 2009 Money Smart Week WisconsinSM Kick-Off

(Madison) DFI Secretary Lorrie Keating Heinemann will attend the Winnebago County Money Smart Week Wisconsin kickoff for the its 2009 Money Smart Week Wisconsin campaign called the Winnebago County Money Smart Kickoff—Meet Ben Franklin Friday, October 9, at the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh, Inc., 501 E. Parkway Ave, Oshkosh from 4:30 p.m-6:30 p.m.

Families, children of all ages, teens and adults are welcome. This family focused event will include games, activities, free Penny the Pig banks and refreshments. RSVPs for this event should be phoned to: Janice Dibble, (920) 236-5214.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin, created by Governor Doyle’s Council on Financial Literacy, was the first statewide financial literacy social awareness campaign in the country when it began in 2006. Its goal is to improve the financial literacy of Wisconsin citizens. It is modeled after similar campaigns run by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in the cities of Chicago and Detroit. The Winnebago County planning group is one of 21 in the state this year.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin 2009 will run October 10-17, 2009.
