The Road to Prosperity Tour Stops in Milwaukee!

The Coalition of Black Investors' (COBI) "Road to Prosperity Tour" will be sending a message of building your wealth in six regional conferences, including one in Milwaukee on Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Midwest Express Convention Center. The conference will feature programs for a variety of investment levels. Investment beginners, pros and clubs are all encouraged to attend Saturday’s event that is being co-hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) Your Money Matters, education program.

Richard Dean, Secretary of DFI, says "The Department's "Your Money Matters" Program promotes financial and investment education," Dean explains. "It’s wonderful that a group like COBI is offering similar educational efforts for advancement of financial savings and management. I feel a conference like this is a great opportunity for the community."

Guest speakers at the conference will include John Rogers, president of Ariel Capital Management in Chicago, Tavis Smiley, Host of BET Tonite, and Duane Davis, COBI Founder. In addition, and probably the most fascinating, is Richard Anderson, Jr. of New York. Richard is a six-year-old who is already investing in the stock market. He has testified before the Congressional Ways and Means Committee on the Social Security Debate.

Some of the workshop topics offered at the COBI conference include: ABCs of Investing, Financial Planning, Running an Investment Club, Investment Education for the Youth, Economic Forecast for the Millennium, Attracting Equity Capital to Small Business, Ministers Roundtable, and much more.

Robert Wynn, Financial Education Officer for the DFI, says "We want people to begin to see the big picture and how various segments of our community such as youth, the church and small business are inextricably inter-connected, and how each must play a role in building a more secure financial future for the entire community." Mr. Wynn emphasized that he expects the Milwaukee conference to appeal to a wider audience than solely to African Americans. He is optimistic that the conference will attract the Hispanic Community, as well as others interested in learning more about investing. "With the advent of social security reform and more flexible guidelines on retirement savings, it makes sense for everyone to seize the opportunity to learn how to take financial control of their future. All who want to learn are invited", Wynn reiterated.

The Conference is this Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Midwest Express Center, West Wisconsin Avenue at North 4th Street. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m., and the Program Welcome will begin at 8:00 a.m. For advance registration please
