Governor McCallum Announces Sheldon Lubar as Keynote Speaker for the Summit on Capital 2002(Madison) Governor Scott McCallum announced today that venture capitalist Sheldon B. Lubar will be the keynote speaker for the March 20 luncheon at the Governor's Summit on Capital 2002. Mr. Lubar, a Milwaukee native, is founder and chairman of Lubar & Co. Inc., a private investment and management firm. "I am extremely pleased to have Sheldon Lubar as our keynote speaker," said Governor McCallum. "His insights will benefit all. He not only brings a venture capitalist's perspective, but also a broad understanding of the Wisconsin business climate and a unique view of the key relationship between business and Wisconsin's University system." Mr. Lubar is a former president of the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System. His business background includes banking, investments, mortgage banking, logistics and manufacturing. His public service has included Assistant Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration, and Director of the Federal Conference on Small Business. He also has an extensive record of community involvement with several arts agencies, institutions of higher education and Milwaukee's Summerfest celebration. The Summit agenda will also feature panel discussions of state, regional and national perspectives including an original research report that compares Madison and Milwaukee to other successful U.S. high-tech and biotech centers. Another session called Wisconsin Success Stories spotlights flourishing companies from diverse industries and geographic areas of the state that raised various forms of capital during their development. The Summit will be held at the Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee on
March 19-20, 2002. The registration fee of $175 until March 4 and $200
after that date, it includes admission to all workshops and activities
