When Collectors can Contact You

A collection agency may contact a debtor in person, by mail or by telephone. However, the contact cannot be at inconvenient or unusual times or places, such as before 8 am or after 9 pm, unless the debtor agrees to such an arrangement.

A debt collector may contact a debtor at work, unless the debtor has notified the collector not to call there, or if the collector knows that the employer disapproves of such calls.
